Heat Resistance of SS 304 Elbow
Good oxidation resistance in intermittent service up to 870°C and continuous service up to 925°C.
Prolonged exposure between 425°C – 860°C may lead to carbide precipitation.
For maximum corrosion resistance after exposure, annealing at 1050°C followed by rapid quenching is recommended.
Welding & Fabrication
SS 304 can be easily welded by TIG, MIG, Arc, or Resistance welding methods using all standard fusion techniques — both with and without filler metals.
It offers excellent formability, machinability, and post-weld strength for industrial use.

SS 304 and SS 304L forged flanges are stainless steel connecting components used to join pipes, valves, or equipment. They are made from ASTM A182 grade 304 or 304L materials, known for their corrosion resistance, high strength, and excellent weldability.
The main difference lies in carbon content — SS 304 contains up to 0.08% carbon, while SS 304L (Low Carbon) has a maximum of 0.035%. This makes SS 304L more suitable for welding applications as it minimizes carbide precipitation and improves corrosion resistance after welding.

Yes. SS 304 can resist oxidation up to 870°C in intermittent service and 925°C in continuous service. For superior resistance to intergranular corrosion after welding, SS 304L is recommended.
